Having a savory venison meal does not mean you have to slave
all day in the kitchen! Slow cookers, or known by a brand, Crock Pot, and
multi-functional pressure cookers, known by the brand Instant Pot, make easy
work and create tender venison that you'll want to have again and again!
Slow Cooker Apple-Scented Venison Roast
Ingredients

tablespoon olive oil
- 3
pounds boneless venison roast
- 1
large apple, cored and quartered
- 2
small onions, sliced
- 1 cup
boiling water
- 1
cube beef bouillon
- 4
cloves crushed garlic
Directions
- Spread
the olive oil on the inside of a slow cooker. Place the venison roast
inside, and cover with apple, onions, and garlic.
- Turn
to Low, and cook until the roast is tender, about 6 to 8 hours.
- When
the roast has cooked, remove it from the slow cooker, and place onto a
serving platter.
- Discard
the apple. Stir the water and bouillon into the slow cooker until the
bouillon has dissolved. Serve this as a sauce with the roast.
Slow Cooked Teriyaki Venison
Ingredients
- 1 (2
pound) venison roast
- 1 cup
packed brown sugar
- 1/3
cup unsweetened apple juice
- 1/3
cup soy sauce
- 1/2
teaspoon salt
- 3
tablespoons cold water
- 2
tablespoons cornstarch
Directions
- Cut
venison roast in half and rub with brown sugar. Place roast into a slow
cooker and add the apple juice, soy sauce, and salt.
- Cover
and cook on Low setting for 6 hours or until meat is tender.
- Remove
meat from slow cooker, cover, and let stand for 15 minutes.
- Pour
drippings through strainer into medium sized bowl, return juices to slow
cooker and discard material in strainer. In a small bowl, combine water
and cornstarch until smooth; stir into cooking juices until well
combined.
- Cover
and cook on High until thickened, about 15 minutes. Slice meat and serve
with gravy.
Instant Pot Venison Pot Roast
Ingredients
- 1
tablespoon olive oil
- 1 (2
pound) venison roast
- 1
(1.5 ounce) package beef stew seasoning mix
- 2
cups water
- 1
pound baby potatoes, halved
- 1 (8
ounce) package baby carrots
- salt
and ground black pepper to taste
Directions
- Turn
on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot(R)) and select Sauté
function. Add olive oil and let heat for 1 minute. Place venison roast in
the hot oil and cook for 2 minutes. Flip roast over and sear for 2 minutes
more. Cancel Sauté mode.
- Place
water in a small bowl and add beef stew seasoning; whisk until seasoning
is dissolved. Pour mixture over the roast.
- Close
and lock the lid. Select High pressure according to manufacturer's
instructions; set timer for 120 minutes. Allow 10 minutes for pressure to
build.
- Release
pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to
manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Add potatoes and carrots to
the pot and spoon sauce over them to coat.
- Close
and lock the lid again. Select High pressure according to manufacturer's
instructions; set timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10 minutes for pressure to
build.
- Release
pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's
instructions, about 15 minutes. Transfer to serving plates. Season with
salt and pepper.
